Handicraft made in Finland

This slipper achieves its shape thanks to a family-owned Finnish company. In a special process, moistened felt sheets are molded on a last and then left to dry so that their durable snuggliness can be preserved for the long term. What a stroke of luck for everyone who loves Wildling shoes, since today, there are only a handful of companies in Europe that have mastered this kind of felting handicraft.

Sole debut

The Lotus is the first to feature a brand-new sole. It has been pared down to the essentials even more, paying tribute to the minimalist aspirations of all Wildling shoes.

This minimal shoe is water-permeable. Consequently, waterproofing is not necessary.

Cleaning

The best way to clean soiled shoes is by knocking them together when they are dry, brushing them carefully as needed when dry, or by wiping them carefully with a damp cloth. Not machine washable.

Every single shoe is a handmade one of a kind, with an upper made from natural material. The structure and coloration may exhibit minor irregularities.

A hue appears different depending on the lighting conditions. That's why colors always look a little different on the screen, in artificial light at home, or outside in sunlight.

Named after the mountain village Lykaio, located in Greek God Pan's rustic homeland Arcadia, the Lykaios sandals are made for trail blazing. They are built like a tank and at the same time give you the ground feel of your bare feet. Gravel, protruding roots, lava stones; throw anything at them and they will grind through and keep your feet safe from harm.

The Lykaios feature a 1.5mm thick** vegetable tanned, natural color leather footbed**. The leather is soft to your feet and will become more beautiful with use and age. The leather is pressure glued to a 5mm Vibram Lisk Newflex rubber sole. This sole has an aggressive tread pattern and exceptional resistance to wear. It is thin, strong, comfortable, and gives you all the traction you need when venturing off the paved roads.

Like all Panta sandals the Lykaios feature the** 3-in-1 strap system**. One continuous strap is fixed to the sole with a full metal plug. A single sliding buckle gives you three options for wearing. They're shipped as pictured in what we call the diagonal-fixed set-up. This is the most all-round set-up that we've chosen as the standard set-up for our sandals.

Medlar’s upper boasts an elegant herringbone pattern made from two types of wool: undyed wool from German regional mixed wool sheep breeds in a natural heathered brown combined with light-colored wool that has been dyed naturally using dye plants.

Nordwolle inside and out

The virgin wool used for the upper and the lining comes from our long-standing partner Nordwolle and is sourced from landscape conservation projects.

Snugly warm

Enveloped in wool from all sides, this mid cut makes sure not a single toe is left out in the cold. But at the same time, no one has to fret about sweaty feet – three cheers for the temperature-regulating properties of wool!

Care

Waterproofing before first-time wear

There is no need to apply waterproofing treatment to the entire shoe right out of the box – that has already been taken care of during production (and in this case, doubling up won’t make it last longer). Before first-time wear, we do recommend that you waterproof the edging again. This may cause the edging to darken slightly, so don’t be surprised.

Tip: Using a brush is the best way to apply the waterproofing product. If you choose to spray it on, be sure to cover the rest of the shoe. Repeat the waterproofing treatment as needed.

Cleaning

The best way to clean soiled shoes is by knocking them together when they are dry, brushing them carefully as needed when dry, or by wiping them carefully with a damp cloth. Not machine washable.

Post-treatment

We recommend periodic follow-up waterproofing treatments with a suitable product.

Additional notes

Every single shoe is a handmade one of a kind, with an upper made from natural material. The structure and coloration may exhibit minor irregularities.

A hue appears different depending on the lighting conditions. That's why colors always look a little different on the screen, in artificial light at home, or outside in sunlight.

When putting on, please note: Widen the opening of the shoe sufficiently by loosening the laces. This minimizes wear on the material and extends the life of the shoe.

With an upper made of 100% organic canvas, our newest edition to the Chukka family was created with cotton grown from natural seeds on a certified organic farm. This farm rules so hard that they only use organic farming practices without the use of pesticides, artificial fertilizers, or other harmful chemicals. The lining? Well that’s made from 100% recycled polyester which came from recycled PET bottles. And, if you’re still not sold on how great these Chukkas are, even the shoelaces are made from recycled material. The cotton canvas upper uses an open-weave mesh to allow for ample airflow and better moisture-wicking abilities, and the elastic liners stretch to fit your unique foot shape. The cork insole molds to your foot, and if you want a little extra wiggle room, just simply remove it from the shoe.

When you want more of a slipper style shoe for a quick errand, simply fold down the microfiber heel and insert that foot right on in. When you need the support, flip it back up and it’s back to a traditional slip on. We told you it’s nifty.

If your foot is on the more narrow side, you may want to consider a sock with this shoe. Heck, even if you just want to wear it with a sock, that’s ok, too. We know, it’s a fashion faux pas, so just avoid strutting the catwalk to avoid the haters. You won’t find any judgment from us.
