Foot Size & Shape Calculator
Your usual shoe size only tells you so much. Measure both feet, add your toe shape, and use the result to compare barefoot shoes with less guesswork.

Step 1
Measure both feet
Measure while standing. Length and width are the essentials; add instep if you have a soft tape measure.

Check what the size chart is measuring
Some charts use your foot length. Others list the inside of the shoe. Do not add extra room until you know which one you are looking at.
If the chart gives a recommended foot length, compare it with your longer foot directly. If it gives internal or insole length, you may need some spare length, but there is no single allowance that works for every shoe. Follow the maker’s sizing method when it gives one.
Length is only the start. Check the forefoot width and toe-box shape too. If you measured your instep, use that to spot uppers that may be too shallow or too loose.
How the result works
Width, instep and toe shape, plus what this calculator can and cannot tell you.
Do I need to measure my instep?
No. Length, width and toe shape are enough for the main result. Add instep circumference for both feet if uppers often feel too tight or too loose and you want a simple volume check.
How does the width result work?
The calculator divides foot length by forefoot width. Below 2.40 is labelled Extra Wide, 2.40 to under 2.60 Wide, 2.60 to 2.75 Medium, and above 2.75 Narrow. It is a barefoot-fit guide, not a universal shoe-width standard. Your actual measurements still matter more for a specific model. Method reviewed 8 October 2026.
How does the instep result work?
If you enter instep measurements, the calculator divides instep circumference by foot length. Below 0.70 is labelled Low, 0.70 to 0.78 Medium, and above 0.78 High. Use it to flag likely upper-volume problems; the shoe depth and closure still decide the fit.
Which foot should I use for sizing?
Start with the longer foot. If both feet are the same length, use the wider foot as your reference. Keep both measurements because the foot that decides length is not always the one that causes the fit problem.
Why does toe shape matter if I know my width?
Width tells you how much space you need, not where you need it. A shoe can be wide across the forefoot and still taper too early around your longer toes.
Can this recommend an exact shoe?
Not yet. Minimal-list can narrow some width-related options, but the catalogue does not have verified model-level toe-box shape and volume data for every shoe. Use the result to rule out obvious mismatches, then check the actual model shape and size chart.
Does Minimal-list save my measurements?
No. The calculator does not send your measurements to analytics or save them to a personal account. If you copy a results link, the measurements are put in that URL so you can reopen or share it. Anyone with the link can read them.
