Where Golden Toe began.
The first Golden Toe Awards asked barefoot shoe wearers to recommend the pairs they actually owned and used. It was a smaller event than today’s awards, but the central idea has stayed the same: let the community decide what deserves recognition.
What we can verify from the archive

recorded submission rows were recovered from the original 2021 response data. That is a submission count, not a proven unique voter count.
Four categories
The original published results recover the four award groups: Shoes, Sandals, Boots and Kids.
The first prize pool
Recovered campaign records show Xero Shoes, Freet, PaperKrane and Luks among the brands that helped put barefoot shoes into the first Golden Toe prize pool.
The original published results have also been recovered, including the category podiums, legacy community ratings and selected voter comments. Minimal-list is now normalising that history carefully so it can be compared with later Golden Toe editions without pretending the voting methods were identical.
