The Feelground Courtside Canvas were my first pair of barefoot shoes. With a plan to un-squish my toes from years of squeezing them into climbing shoes, I decided the time had come to try and improve my foot health. I picked Feelgrounds for their eco-consciousness materials, the zero plastic was a big sway! And for their aesthetic, the black and gum colourway reminded me of the skate shoes from my old boarding days.

I think these look better in person than they do on the site. Like most barefoot shoe newbies, I was worried the large toe box would look weird, and I’d feel awkward in them. But when wearing them, I don’t notice the different shapes at all. Comfort-wise it’s a real game-changer, my feet don’t feel anywhere near as hot and stuffy as they would in a normal trainer.
The sole provides great foot protection, while still being zero drop. I was concerned my foot would take some getting used to the thin sole, but this wasn’t an issue. The combination of the sole, the fit, and their lightweightness means I don’t notice I’m wearing shoes at all, they are very comfortable and the fit is true to size.
