We all know the benefits of being barefoot more often. But if you're like me, sometimes you want a little more. And that little more has to be fun!
This is where balance beams and boards came into my life. They're a fun way to build up train hip stability, ankle and foot mobility, and help to increase body awareness and balance.
Not only that, but they're also beautiful (and practical) pieces of furniture to have in your living space.
Here's a list of the best balance beams and boards out there...
Foot Collective
The Foot Collective have a few different balance beams available but the Classic Maple Wood Beam is by far the most beautiful. They also have a whole section on their website with exercises to help you get moving!

Woodumove
Woodumove places a strong emphasis on making its products from natural, ecological materials. They're handmade and look really really nice! Each beam is made to give a different biomechanical problem to the foot and body.

Zauri Activity Balance Bar
The Zauri Activity Balance Bar is probably the most transportable of all the options and can be moved around the house (and taken to the park) easily.

Mobo Board
It's clear that a lot of thought went into the Mobo Boards design! It's way more than your average wobble board. It has a hollow box under your little toes to prevent you from using a gripping strategy, and teaches you, and your feet, to drive your big toe down to find stability through your arch.

Wobble Balance Board
These large wooden arches provide a simpler challenge to the body and are useful for people just getting started or for younger kids. There are a number of brands available on Amazon.

Conclusion
Balance boards and beams are a practical and potentially beautiful item to have in your house. Just by incorporating into your living space, you're promoting a more natural way of moving in your life.
