Where Golden Toe began.
The first Golden Toe Awards asked barefoot shoe wearers to recommend the pairs they actually owned and used. It was a smaller event than today’s awards, but the central idea has stayed the same: let the community decide what deserves recognition.
What we can verify from the archive

The first prize pool
Recovered campaign records show Xero Shoes, Freet, PaperKrane and Luks among the brands that helped put barefoot shoes into the first Golden Toe prize pool.
Some of the original public result detail has not survived in a form we can verify confidently. Rather than reconstructing winners or category names from memory, this archive keeps only the facts that are supported by the recovered records.
